Eastlays Quarry We visited Eastlays on 13th March 2002. Eastlays is one of several underground stone quarries in Wiltshire that were converted for use during World War 2. Some such as Westwood and Spring quarries became factories, others like Monkton Farleigh and Eastlays became a huge central ammunition repository. Eastlays is now a gigantic underground wine storage facility. It is not open to the public and they do not offer guided tours. We managed to visit as a sort of return favour and would like to extend our thanks to the quarry manager for giving up his time to show us around. Please do not pester the owners of this site for a visit. For more details on this and other facilities in the area see Nick McCamley's site at :http://www.monkton-farleigh.co.uk
